Rotary Club of Belfast

Club told of the Importance of Light

PresRonnieAndCanonJohnThe Club were delighted to welcome Canon John McKegney to give the New Year's Address. It was extremely well received by members and revealed his love of light. Rotarians he concluded can light up this city bringing light and hope to illuminate this darkened world; just as Dean Sammy Crooks did when he started in his Black Santa Appeal in 1976 and in the midst of destruction helped both the community and re-built a cathedral.

He hoped that for Rotary this year, through the motto, the shining light would bring hope and healing.

A retired Rector of St Mark's Armagh, Canon John is a Past President of Armagh Rotary Club and, now retired, is a member of Probus. He introduced President Ronnie to Rotary in Armagh in his President's year in 1996.
