The Lord Mayor Welcomed
Councillor Tracy Kelly Lord Mayor of Belfast, who is an Honorary Member during her term of office, gave an overview of the current and future plans for the city in her well received address Monday 29 September. She noted that Belfast is a very changing city particularly over the last 30 years and the Council's Belfast Agenda, building on current strengths, sets out their clear ambitious but realistic vision for the city by 2035. She pointed out that Belfast is a city of talent, industry and innovation, the leading centre for professional services in cyber and technology and the universities are equipping the next generation of young people in skills to be used right across the globe. She also noted that as Lord Mayor she wants to see the city continue to grow in confidence pointing out we hold fast the values of hard work, responsibility, community spirit which have always defined us. She stressed that Belfast is known throughout the world for its great people, great enthusiasm and lovely personalities which we should be very proud of and treasure and concluded by noting that the Club has been setting a good example for more than 110 years of what the Belfast Agenda aims to do and she was sure that it will continue to do so.
