Rotary Club of Belfast

A New Rotary Year

Beggs Handover20141 July 2014 sees the beginning of a new Rotary year with Club, District and International Presidents and Officers beginning their terms following the Rotary International President's theme to Light Up the World.

Club President Ronnie McLean received his Chain of Office at the handover meeting held at the Royal Belfast Golf Club (more here) and he hopes to lead the Club forward and increase membership.

Rotary Ireland's District Governor Phillip Beggs (shown right) received his Chain of Office from Past DG Verity Swan in Dublin.

At the handover in Dublin DG Phillip Beggs commented: "Rotarians sometimes don't realise all the good that Rotary is doing and is capable of doing. If they could witness the impact of the projects I was privileged to see earlier this year, it would change their lives. They would understand that they belong to an organisation whose members have a common desire to do something good and who, working together, accomplish incredible things. I am in awe of the good I see Rotarians doing throughout Ireland and further afield". DG Phillip wishes every Rotarian in Ireland a successful year ahead.
