Tales of a Tour Guide
This week's Club speaker was Ivan Maginnis, who operates with his wife Maginnis Tour Guides and who gave a snapshot of the tour guiding industry. He emphasised to the attentive audience that the growth in the tour trade has been spawned by the increasing cruise and conference markets, Game of Thrones impact, Peace dividend, Titanic Centenary, global golf success and the timeless allure of the landscape. He pointed out that Ireland is increasingly seen as a "must see" destination and is now a "safe area".
He concluded with his Irish Guiding Wisdom:
- Tell people something they know

- Make them laugh or cry
- Sing them a song
- A joyous start to a journey is the best of all guides!
