Rotary Club of Belfast

Presentation to Glebe House

HCTChequePresentation06.07President Ivan was delighted to present a cheque for £2000 from the proceeds of the Toccata Concert to Seamus Camplisson Chairman, Harmony Community Trust (HCT) Monday 4 July. Also shown are (3rd from left) Past President Ronnie Porter and Club Treasurer David Boyd. Glebe House has been operating for 40 years since the Club were instrumental in setting it up.

He pointed out that the need for Glebe is still there; there may be no 'troubles' but divisions are still deep with poverty and lack of opportunities. Glebe is a residential centre working all year round busy all summer and bringing children together every weekend in the winter. Although children are the core there are adult programmes also. He stressed that the voluntary sector has to work hard to bring in funds and pressures on finance are growing with core funding disappearing and public financing bleak. "This money from the concert is a very welcome contribution and the Club should be honoured and proud of the Glebe House it created".
