Rotary Club of Belfast

NI Food & Drink Year 2016

DrHowardHastingsNIFoodDrinkYearThank you Dr. Howard Hastings OBE, Managing Director of Hastings Hotels and Chair of Visit Belfast for your a well received address to the Club Monday 14 November. His address highlighted NI Food and Drink Year 2016 which aimed to showcase and develop the best of NI food and drink and the people and passion that goes into rearing, making, cooking and serving it.

He advised that the tourist Board, Invest NI, Dept. of Agriculture, local councils, supermarkets and the Department of Education all have worked together to support it; there has been a special theme every month from breakfast to BBQ's and beers etc and many companies have success stories. He also noted that in addition to locally brewed beers a whole new gin and vodka distilling culture has grown up and highlighted Belfast's weekly walking tours and that this year's Christmas market will feature NI artisans.
