ShelterBox Help Grenfell Tower Group

ShelterBox reacted swiftly to a request from a therapy group helping the young people and adults traumatised by the Grenfell Tower fire by providing five all-weather gazebos with side panels for cover for a range of outdoor activities and counselling sessions.

Kids on the green - a collective of trained therapists - have set up a calm space for the children, teens and families but they had to set up their activities every morning, and pack away every night. Supported entirely by local businesses and community donations, all the facilities are provided free, including food and drink, arts and crafts, games (football, basketball etc.), children’s entertainment (including circus skills) and alternative therapies (including acupuncture, reiki and massage). ShelterBox Chief Executive Chris Warham says ‘Providing shelter for people who’ve suffered a disaster is exactly what we do, and it is rare we are called to respond in our own country... We know from our work in disaster and conflict zones that families affected by disaster need so much more than simple shelter'.
