Rotary Club of Belfast

The role of the SEUPB

GinaMcIntyrePresentationSpecial EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) Chief Executive Gina Mcintyre, in a very detailed presentation to the Club Monday 13 November, advised that SEUPB is a cross-border body (one of the 6 established after the 1998 Belfast Agreement) which co-ordinates projects funded by the EU Structural Funds implemented in Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland and Western Scotland. It receives and disburses funds under EU programmes and reports to the European Commission and the North-South Ministerial Council.

Gina highlighted previous and current funds and advised that the PEACE Programmes were developed in 1995 as a direct result of the European Union’s desire to respond positively to the opportunities presented by developments in the Northern Ireland peace process and were unique. She concluded her well received presentation by highlighting the benefits to the region.
