District Governor visits the Club

DG Banner exchange 11.09.23The Club was delighted to welcome Rotary Ireland District Governor Kenny Fisher to the meeting Monday 11 September. He addressed the Club members, exchanged banners with Immediate Past President Ken Nixon and reminded that the theme RI for the year is "Create Hope in the World". He pointed out the effects on people of the pandemic and in particular on mental health and resulting suicides and advised that Rotary International President Gordon McInally has decided to focus on mental health in the coming year; RGBI are going to work with Bi-Polar UK for the next 2 years and Rotary Ireland will be working with Aware, both north and south, to try to de-stigmatise mental health challenges. He also reflected on District and Club activities over the last Rotary year.

Concluding he thanked for the invitation to visit and noted that it is always encouraging to visit such a vibrant Club and wished the Club well for the year ahead being in no doubt that it would again be a very successful one.
