Rotary Club of Belfast

Club Support at Christmas

Cptn. Ben Ellis 13.01.25The Club last Christmas, as in previous years, donated £500 each to the Christmas Appeals of the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and this year Belfast Homeless Services.

We were delighted to welcome as a guest speaker to the first meeting in 2025 on 13 January Salvation Army's Captain Ben Ellis who thanked the Club for the donation to their Family Appeal noting this year it supported 5,000 children and how he would love if there was no need for it. He gave a most uplifting address stressing that hope for a new year comes from God who is always with you. He revealed that he has always been frustrated at the level of homelessness when we live in a world full of plenty which if shared could benefit so many. He highlighted that the Salvation Army in Belfast alone supports 300 people and 88 single men are supported and accommodated in Centenary House every night and in Dublin over 500 people - families, including children - are supported.
