Nearly There...
Today is World Polio Day when every year Rotary highlights its commitment to ending one of humanity’s longest-running public health efforts by eradicating polio - once and for all. This year it comes at a pivotal moment with shifting geopolitical realities and significant cuts in global health funding. On this World Polio Day Rotary:
- - celebrates what has been achieved – since Rotary pioneered the global fight to end polio in 1985, cases have fallen by 99.9%, saving more than 20 million children from paralysis, and it is endemic now in only 2 countries
- honours the tireless contributions of those on the frontlines in the fight to eradicate polio from every corner of the globe and
- recommits to what remains to be done - to ensure that every child, everywhere, grows up free from polio.
It is within reach.
Any donations to End Polio Now are matched 2-to-1 by the Gates Foundation.
