Transformation through Education

PresRonnieAndHelenHarrison2Guest Speaker Helen Harrison, Planning and Environmental Director at Juno, spoke about the 'Transformation through Education' relocation of the University of Ulster Campus to the heart of Belfast. She outlined the planning issues of the £250 million project which has been going for nearly 10 years and is due for completion in 2018. It will be biggest economic development /regeneration project in Belfast city since the £400m Victoria Square Regeneration Initiative, and will bring 10,000 students and 2,000 staff into the Cathedral Quarter in an area bordered by York, Donegall and Frederick streets. She stressed the vision was to include not solely the students move to a new Campus but also making it accessible to the local population. Her presentation was very well received by members and generated a lot of interest and questions.
