Peru
ShelterBox currently have a team responding to extreme flooding in the NW areas of Piura and Trujillo after a year’s rainfall fell in a month. The waters have now receded, but have left devastation in their wake, with collapsed houses and vast amounts of dry river mud.

The video shows the desperate state people are in sleeping in the open. They are looking to distribute 1,000 ShelterKits and 2,000 non food items such as mosquito nets and solar lights working in partnership with World Vision and the Rotary Clubs of Trujillo, who are providing vital information and volunteers to help distribute the kits and train the beneficiaries in their use.

Columbia 2017Colombia - Flash Flooding and Landslides

A team has been deployed to Colombia after mudslides caused by heavy rainfall buried whole neighbourhoods - forcing families from their homes. So far, teams have successfully distributed 6 ShelterBoxes in the Mocoa area and are now working in the capital Bogota to coordinate assessments in Choco and have deployed 65 ShelterBoxes.

Cameroon, Niger & Chad
After fleeing attacks from Boko Haram in these countries, ShelterBox has supported some of the over 60,000 displaced in Minawao camp in Cameroon working on emergency support for those who having fled their homes are being put into large shelters that are dangerous and have poor sanitation. It is hoped to distribute 1,700 tents, 500 ShelterKits, and other life-saving aid to the most vulnerable. In Niger, 1,500 ShelterBoxes have been distributed with 850 ShelterKits in Chad.

Somaliland – Drought
Following the unrelenting drought in Somaliland ShelterBox are looking to support families with 441 ShelterKits, including tarpaulins and water filters which are vital as there has been a recent outbreak of cholera.

Moz may 17Mozambique - Cyclone
A team has just finished working in south coast of Mozambique supporting the most vulnerable families following heavy flooding after tropical storm Dineo in February which brought heavy rains and winds of more than 160 km per hour. Working with the Red Cross, they have distributed 1,000 ShelterKits and 2,000 mosquito nets to families in the country. The ShelterKits contain the materials needed to repair and rebuild homes, while the mosquito nets will help prevent a range of diseases.

Iraq - Mosul Offensive
ShelterBox is working with partner organisations to distribute emergency ShelterKits and other essential aid to internally displaced Iraqis focussing on non-camp settlements and initial rapid response. 3,000 ShelterKits and 1,000 bespoke kits to make half-finished buildings and empty warehouses habitable and other essential non food aid will be distributed to displaced families.

Syria may 17Syria - Ongoing Conflict
As the conflict in Syria reaches its sixth year, ShelterBox continue to work with partners to help those affected by the crisis. They have continually adapted their approach responding to the different situations and are now preparing for continued high levels of displacement in the city of Raqqa where they anticipate around 300,000 people will evacuate at some point in the future.
