Jazz Brunch raises funds for ShelterBox

BrunchTimeThe Club is delighted to be able to donate over £1,000 to ShelterBox after the Club Jazz Brunch held Sunday 22 March when a splendid afternoon held in the excellent CIYMS Sports Complex was greatly enjoyed by over 60 members, family and friends. Funds are critically needed to enable them to continue to help people after disasters such as the recent storm in the Pacific island of Vanuatu leaving staggering quarter of a million people homeless and urgently needing help.

We were delighted to also see present Inner Wheel Club President Beryl Crawford and other Inner Wheel Club members.

The tables were beautifully decorated by Rtn Doris Houston with not only flowers but also chocolate eggs and jumping toy bunnies!

These were then kindly donated by Doris to those who found a note under their seats.

Tipping the hat to the recent St Patrick's Day all enjoyed a beef and Guinness casserole with baby boiled potatoes, petis pois and salad followed by lemon meringue pie or blackcurrant cheesecake. Thanks are extended to Brian & Rosie Clements and David & Jenny Boyd for organising and serving the food and drinks.

BallotPrize

Thanks to the generosity of Club members a large number of lovely ballot prizes were drawn which enabled over £400 to be raised.

However perhaps the best entertainment of all was the live music played by Alan Crawford (Inner Wheel President Beryl's husband) who had all up dancing while he sang and played not only the keyboard but also 8 other instruments - a guitar, banjo, clarinet, trumpet, flute, saxophone, accordion and violin.

BirthdayDance

The dancing was led by Past President Campbell and Gaile Morton with Campbell also sharing a birthday dance with Inner Wheel Club Past President Paddy Glass as they had both celebrated birthdays during the week.

All who attended, donated in lieu, presented ballot prizes and helped in any way before or on the day, contributed to making this an event to remember and raising the wonderful sum of over £1,000. Full details of ShelterBox can be seen here.
