The 90th RIBI Conference was held in Belfast over the weekend 10-12 April 2015 and the Club was well represented by members. The Conference programme was extensive and guest speakers all had a Rotary connection.
The Club is delighted to be able to donate over £1,000 to ShelterBox after the Club Jazz Brunch held Sunday 22 March when a splendid afternoon held in the excellent CIYMS Sports Complex was greatly enjoyed by over 60 members, family and friends. Funds are critically needed to enable them to continue to help people after disasters such as the recent storm in the Pacific island of Vanuatu leaving staggering quarter of a million people homeless and urgently needing help.
The Club enjoyed another wonderful evening at the Club Christmas Dinner Meeting held in the Ulster Reform Club Monday night 15 December.
Over 70 Club members, guests and Inner Wheel Club members had a splendid evening of fellowship. Thanks to Past President Bryan Johnston the tables were kept engaged with a taxing "Name the Photos" Quiz. There were no full marks but 4 members tied on a score of 8/10. Out of these Doreen McLean drew David Boyd's entry for the first prize of 16year old Bushmills Single Malt Whiskey and Ken Nixon's for a Thornton's Reindeer. This great fun quiz raised £170 for the Club Trust Fund.
42 members and partners enjoyed a convivial fine dining evening at the Linen Lounge Restaurant at the Belfast Metropolitan College, Tuesday 04 November. The delicious 3 course meal so beautifully presented was prepared and served under supervision by teams of 8 and 4 students respectively and ranged from pigeon, butternut squash risotto and soup of the day to guinea fowl, lamb and cod all finished off with a delightful selection of desserts and complimentary petits fours with tea and coffee.
12 members and 2 guests (wives) attended the sessions of the District Governor Phillip Beggs' hugely successful District Conference at the Titanic Centre over Friday 26 - Saturday 27 September organised by the Comber Club. We were particularly pleased to also have Andrew Smith, Belfast Rotaract Club's President. (not shown in photo are PP Marnette, Secretary Alvin and PP David Boyd)
Membership of the Club is an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable experience and we are actively looking for new people to invite to join and breathe new vibrancy and ideas into the Club and take Rotary into its second century in Belfast.
